The Imenco PACU™ solution achieves DNV Technology Certification

STAVANGER, NORWAY – 3 November 2026:
Imenco Corrosion Technology proudly announces that its PACU™ solution has officially received technology certification from DNV. This major milestone confirms that the unique retrofit corrosion-protection system meets the rigorous standards required to safeguard permanent mooring chains in harsh and all offshore environments.
Damages to mooring chains represent a critical risk for asset owners, leading to highly costly replacements and negative environmental impacts. PACU™ directly addresses this challenge by providing retrofitted corrosion protection to the suspended parts of the chains, effectively strengthening the system, mitigating fatigue, and preventing premature failure. The solution is designed for easy installation on both existing (brownfield) and new (greenfield) mooring systems.
Emma Eng Berg, Project Manager at DNV, comments:
“DNV has issued a Statement of Qualified Technology for the Imenco PACU™ solution for the intended purpose of providing corrosion protection to the suspended part of permanent mooring chains. This technology is relevant for both existing and new mooring systems and can contribute to extending the service life of mooring chains. The technology has successfully completed a DNV Technology Qualification process in accordance with DNV-RP-A203.”
PACU™ is already thoroughly tested, field-proven, and actively deployed on several offshore permanently moored assets within the Oil & Gas sector (such as FPSOs) as well as within Floating Offshore Wind.
